Obituary Irene Cornwell Holcomb, 84, of Gamaliel, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Signature Health Care of Monroe in Tompkinsville.She was born March 3, 1932 in Monroe County to the late Kelly Cornwell and Effie Sisco Cornwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Gamaliel Baptist Church. She was united in marriage on July 2, 1948 to John Ivan Holcomb who preceded her in death on February 9, 1990.She is survived by one son Anthony Holcomb and wife Ginger of Gamaliel, two daughters: Debra Walden and husband Travis of Tompkinsville, Ginger Robinson and husband Dwayne of Philpot, KY, one brother: H.B. Cornwell of Tompkinsville, one sister: Ruth Crowe of Tompkinsville, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her step mother: Bessie Goad Cornwell, one brother: Everett Cornwell, one step brother: Calvin Goad and one sister: Evelyn Cornwell. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 PM at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery.Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Saturday and after 8:00 AM on Sunday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel. Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel Cemetery, Gamaliel Baptist Church Building Fund or Monroe County Retired Teachers Scholarship.
